Coach's Baked Ziti With Mushrooms And Cheese

Carson Turner–Baedun Hill, North Carolina

Prepare 1 16oz package of Colavita Ziti pasta according to package directions (plenty of water helps).

Brown 1 pound of ground sirloin broken into a medium fine texture. Do not drain the oil.

Mix 1 jar of Lidia's Onion and Tuscan Pepper Sauce into browned ground meat, add mushrooms, reduce heat to simmer.

Pour pasta into large casserole dish and toss with Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil making sure to Coat the casserole dish

well with olive oil before adding the sauce mixture.

Pour sauce and meat mixture over pasta and toss very well.

Sprinkle casserole with grated Parmesan and Romano cheeses.

Top casserole with shredded Mozzarella cheese.

Bake at 350°F until cheese is melted and slightly bubbling.

Serve with a fresh green salad and toasted garlic bread. Try a fine Sauvignon Blanc.

Serves: four hungry people or two hungry people with some left for lunch the next day.

This is not "gentle dining" but "hardy eating", best served following a long day of hard work when it's time to unwind. Sometimes "romantic" is knowing when it's time to really eat.
